Terms of Use

Fuel Sniper · Last updated 23 August 2026

These terms apply to the Fuel Sniper app and website ("Fuel Sniper", "we", "us"). By using Fuel Sniper you accept them. If you do not, please do not use it.

1. What Fuel Sniper is

Fuel Sniper displays fuel prices published by Australian government price-reporting schemes, alongside tools for comparing them — cost to fill your vehicle, route planning, EV charger locations and a personal fill-up log. It is an information service. It does not sell fuel, take payment for fuel, or act as an agent for any retailer.

2. Prices are indicative, not an offer

Always check the price on the board before you fill up. A price shown in Fuel Sniper is not an offer, a quote, or a promise that the fuel is available at that price.

Prices come from third-party government schemes and are only as current, complete and correct as those schemes make them. They change without notice, retailers report at different intervals, and some jurisdictions publish deliberately delayed data — Victorian prices are released roughly 24 hours late by Service Victoria's design, and Fuel Sniper labels them as delayed rather than live. Stations may be closed, out of a grade, or pricing differently at the pump.

Fuel Sniper does not verify prices independently and is not responsible for pricing discrepancies, a wasted trip, or a decision you make on the strength of a displayed price.

Range, cost and route figures

Cost-to-fill, range and route-stop planning are estimates calculated from figures you enter about your vehicle and from published prices. Real consumption varies with load, terrain, driving and condition. Do not rely on Fuel Sniper's range estimates to decide whether you can reach the next servo in a remote area. Carry a margin, and plan for the possibility that a station is closed or dry.

3. Shared prices from other drivers

Fuel Sniper lets drivers share what they actually paid. Those reports are unverified user submissions, are shown alongside the official price rather than replacing it, and never change the ranking of results. If you submit a price you must report it honestly and accurately, and you must not submit a price for a station you did not buy fuel from. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, aggregate and analyse what you submit. We may remove any report at our discretion.

4. Acceptable use

You may use Fuel Sniper for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You must not:

We may suspend or block access that breaches this section, without notice.

5. Data sources and attribution

6. Availability

Fuel Sniper is provided as-is and we do not guarantee it will be available, uninterrupted or error-free. Data feeds go down, government APIs change without notice, and we may change, suspend or withdraw features. We do not guarantee coverage of every station in Australia.

7. Your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

To the extent permitted by law, and subject to the paragraph above, Fuel Sniper is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss — including lost time, wasted travel, or the difference between a displayed price and the price you paid. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to resupplying the service or the cost of resupplying it.

8. Intellectual property

The Fuel Sniper name, app, website, design and source code are proprietary and all rights are reserved by the owner. The underlying fuel price data is owned by the respective government schemes and is used under their terms. Nothing here transfers ownership of anything to you.

9. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and store, and forms part of these terms.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date above changes when we do, and continuing to use Fuel Sniper after that means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
